Your work has really matured/changed. It has always been wonderful, and arguably brilliant at times, but this is a great indicator of things to come from you.
You made the right choice: the world would have missed you had you not decided to stick with art!

thank you! i've definitely felt a sense of growth from my artwork, mostly within the last 2 weeks, actually. my wonderful professor Bill Kennedy ripped apart one of my portraits a little while ago, and it inspired me to take more risks, and to actually plan ahead of the shoot. it's not at all what i'm used to, but hopefully it will pay off. already i'm grateful i've done this from reading your comment and realizing people are noting a change. i'm grateful
All of your new work has been startling in that it -is- out of your 'norm' and yet still maintaining a -feel- that it is undeniably -your- work and non other.
THAT is a very difficult and impressive feat for any artist to pull off, yet I feel this is true even more strongly in the area of photography because it IS so easy/tempting to both maintain the 'status quo' or go in the opposite direction and remove yourself so completely from your own work that you either come to a place where it is no longer recognizable as your own, or mimics that of a teacher/idol/current 'fad' so closely that it no longer -matters- if it is your own or not.
Exceedingly well done, sweets. I'm very glad you decided to stick with it. Your work always struck a chord and now is promising to rock socks as well.
Congratulations on a successful re-birth. That whole 'burning' part to get there is always something of a bitch, but damn... I'm groovin on your results.

Stacey, thank you so much for your encouragement and support! Your comment really made me feel good
It's been unbelievably tempting to stick to the status quo with photography. For a while there I felt that if my work was good enough to book weddings and portraits, there was no need to try to bring any more creativity to it. I'm so lucky in that I have great professors and a boyfriend who refuses to let me settle on 'average'.
I really hope you'll continue to enjoy my work. I'll continue working to improve it
Yeah, my favorite professor used to constantly shout "previsualize" at us in all of her classes. It's not right for every occasion, but having that knowledge buried in your subconscious does help in every situtaion.
